STEVEN GROSSO was born and raised in South Philadelphia, PA (1985) and is an American author of a detective series set throughout Philadelphia, in sections such as Rittenhouse Square, Old City, Center City, his hometown of South Philly, and more. His debut novel, THE HIGHWAY, was published in 2013, which was followed in 2014 by his thrilling, heart-pounding second installment in the series, DIVINE. The third installment, THOSE WHO SEEK, set entirely in South Philly, is NOW AVAILABLE! 


His BENNY STEEL novels, featuring Philadelphia homicide detectives Benjamin Steel and Marisa Tulli, are laced with passion and authenticity, the gritty feel of Philadelphia woven through the storytelling, with relatable, down-to-earth characters and scenarios that thrust the reader into the darkest and brightest recesses of the human mind and soul, through pain and joy, good and evil, pure love and gut-wrenching fear, philosophical yearning and apathy, existential crisis and spirituality…life and death. 


Steven first discovered a passion for reading in childhood with R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps series and decided to become a writer after discovering the novels of Dennis Lehane and Michael Connelly in his early twenties. After traveling across the country to visit all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums in his early to mid-twenties, he began to write his first book.


Steven currently lives in Philadelphia and is working on his fourth novel. He holds an MBA. He has appeared on ABC News Radio; The Laura Coates Show on SiriusXM Radio with CNN Legal Analyst Laura Coates; This Morning, America’s First News with Gordon Deal; the iTunes podcast The Fantasy Fool; 700 WLW Cincinnati News Radio on iHeart Radio; and KCMO Talk Radio to discuss his novel series. His series was featured in an article in The South Philly Review, and he appeared on the TV show The Philly Factor.


His third Benny Steel novel, THOSE WHO SEEK, set entirely in South Philadelphia, was released in 2017 and is Now Available!
